To the Members

A short message from the Commodore

I am pleased I was elected Commodore at the annual general meeting. Our excommodore Bob Hearn did a great job during his three-year term, as did the Management Committee. It is good to see a few new faces on the Committee this year. The Club is in good shape having about 120 members.

Pat Collins needed to stand aside due to family and work pressures, but will still assist and continue on the Committee. Our new Vice-Commodore Dave De Coster seems to be finding 5.5's for everyone that wants to sail one. I did not know we had so many in Australia! "Good on you Dave".

Our first race of the season is on the 18th of September because Easter falls early next year. We cannot however sail on 25th September due to pre-booked weddings on that weekend. The Sailing Program is enclosed.

Membership Renewal and Related Forms: Insurance for all boats sailing with the Club is compulsory, as is a Category 7 Compliance Certificate for all Yachts, in order to be eligible to race. Yacht owners need to ring Dave De Costar (M 0412 332 565) to organise the Cat 7 compliance audit prior to the start of racing. A copy of insurance certificates must also accompany a completed Race Entry Form. Please send your membership renewal and race entry forms addressed to the Secretary VYC.

Please ensure that your drinks account is in credit. Failure to do so unnecessarily overburdens the Accounts Secretary whose on going work maintains this vital facility. A Working-Bee has been organized for Saturday 4 September to make the Club ship-shape for the start of season.

Hope to see you either at the working bee and/or on the 18th September.

Bob Green
Commodore
