A Quick Update

This is a quick update to remind all members of upcoming events at our Club over the next month.

Yes, here it is the beginning of winter, but That isn't going to stop us catching up and spending time at one of The best places on earth, or as Ken Fallon calls it, 'Heaven'

Please come and partake in all, or at least two of the following events, including Winter Racing on the last Saturday of each month our first one was light but bliss and attracted nine entries.

AGM -
POSTPONED TO 30 JUNE 2003

It is that time of the year again, the Vaucluse Yacht Club AGM - the main feature this month.

Please, there are many opportunities to give back to the Club by nominating for one of the many positions mentioned in The notice that accompanies this newsletter.

A number of members have been on the committee in one role or another for many years. We would love to have some new blood on the Board.

Fresh faces mean fresh ideas and there are varied opportunities, including the role as the Club's function co-ordinator.

Meeting starts at 7.30 p.m.(1930 hrs.) and we would like to see as many members there as can make it.

Functions
Racing Rules (five nights)
Want to learn something more, or anything at all about Racing Rules, I beg you, please don't miss this night.
God knows some of you need it!

The course, to be hosted by Lister Hughes, one or the most experienced experts, will be held over five weeks, one night per week, giving plenty of opportunity to let it sink in, but not overtax the already tired brain.

Do yourself a favour and book now with Bob Fielding
- phone: 0417 049 681 to avoid disappointment.

Laser Sailors Dinner

Mystery surrounds this dinner. So far two dates (to my knowledge) have been set, then abandoned - no abandoned signal was raised at the Club already there have been murmurs of protest. Bookings and details, when we extract a date, will be via Pat Collins. Stay tuned….

2001-2003 Season Prize Giving

Was a roaring success - 105 people I think was the head count. Held on the night of t'1~y 24, if you weren't there, you missed a really really good night out.

Commiserations to Mike Cole, who was down with the flu, Ken Fallon, who was getting some R&R after a medical lapse, (they are both OK now) and ????

Tony Muir excelled himself in the kitchen once again - can that man throw an excellent nosh together and make it look easy. With helpers in the from our Commodore Bob Hearn, the inimitable Bunny Littlewood and Tim Williams in particular, the night came together perfectly. The food, entertainment and company were excellent - what more could you ask for?

Old Buffers Night - 14 June - 5.O0pm

We would like to see as many of you as possible at this night. Already we have had 50 affitmative replies from some 'golden oldies', and we would like to see as many of you there as possible. Get to know not only our older members, but also our newest additions. This is a great opportunity for all of us to get together and hear some great yarns from yesteryear.

tickets are $25.00 per head, bookings essential by June 10, for catering purposes.
Phone Di Pearson 9388 7182. Send cheque payable to 'Vaucluse Yacht Club
Old Buffers' and post to the Club at Marine Parade, Watsons Bay 2030, or pay on the night.
